ANALYSIS OF A URBAN PLAN (BARCELONA)

In first place we are going to define what a city is: a city is a type of landscape with anthropic elements that consist in  a group of streets and buildings governed by a town hall with a large population. The city we are going to analyze is located in the north east of Spain. This city has mediteranean coasts and it is near the Pirinees. It´s named Barcelona, there are many theories about the name but the most accurate is that Barcelona´s name evolved in the middle ages during the Julio Cesar roman colony. Barcelona is one of the most turism cities of Europe with lots of  shops, museums, monuments and hotels.

In the other hand, the historic Center call also (Ciudad Vella) has a layout with narrow and winding streets. This part of the city is surrounded with walls built by Romans (s. I a. C. ). The wall has 81 towers that were use to defend from the enemies. Outside the walls there are many neighborhoods such as Gracia, Sant Marti, San Andreu, San Montjuïc, Les Corts...
I think the functions of this part of the city are residencial and comercial, I also think that this part of the city has lots of trafic problems,  air pollution and noisy pollution. The main buildings are the Cathedral, King square and many gotic churches, museums and squares.

In the third place, the expansion zone has change to a orthogonal layout, this layout look like a grid in which streets usually run at right angles to each other. It is very usual in Romans and Greeks. This part of the city has some parts of the wall but it isn´t surrounded at all. The main monuments, of this part of the city are La Sagrada Familia, Gaudí Square, Antoni Puigvert Garden, Príncipe de girona Garden . I think the functions of the expansion zone are residencial, commercial, cultural and industrial. I also think that the main problems are traffic, air pollution and building restoration.

Finally, the outskirts of the city has a orthogonal layout, it also has lost of residencial buildings and neighborhoods such as El carmelo, La teixonera, Vilapicina, Horta may be this parts of the city were villages in the past. The functions of the outskirts are resindencial and industrial and the main problems are air pollution from the industries areas, the waste of time moving from one to another and transport.

ANALYSIS OF A POPULATION PYRAMID

Analysis of a population pyramid you can click here to know more information In first place we are going to define what a population pyramid is: it is a graph that shows the structure of a society by sex and age at a given time and place. We can divide this pyramid into three sections: young dependents (0-14), working population(15-64), old dependents (65+). According to the sex structure of this graph, the sex ratio at birth is equaly, the number of girls born are the same as boys (16%), so the sex ratio matches in 0-4 level. In the other hand women have the higher life expectancy. The reasons of that might be historical, dangerous jobs and smoking of men and healthy life of women. With regard to the age structure of the pyramid we can say that it corresponds with the first stage, It has expansive shape and concave sides because of the high birth rate (39.3% 0 ) and the high death rate (14.5% 0 ), consecuenly the net migration is negative and the real increse is lower ...

DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE

The American Declaratation of Independence is a document,  approved by the  Continental Congress on July 4, 1776, that announced the separation of North American British colonies from Great Britain. It talks about what they called unalienable rights: equality, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, despite they (upper class) omitted Indians, black slaves and women. I think that both historian,s interpretations of this statement could be close to reality, it is an evidence that Bernard Bailyn one adopts the most extreme position, he says Americans believed an evil and deliberate conspiracy of Britain against their liberty, they believed that England was trying to enslave them and the only option that they had to protect themselves was to use the power which God has given to them. In the other hand Howard Zinn talks about people´s history of the United States, he thinks that the main point of this declaration was the way in which upper class persuade the lower class to jo...
